Info

Burns is a rich and heavy set of textures and transitions made from real chemical processes and celluloid. Created in our lab, this pack captures the unique and interesting qualities of analog film and works as the perfect cutpoint in any edit. By exposing the celluloid to carefully selected colors, the fast flashes range in hues from teal and orange, to pink and green. Each asset also has a unique sound effect designed from scratch. Layer these bursts of color over your footage and bring your edit to life.

Add grit and create cinematic transitions with more than 50 film burns scanned directly from a variety of Kodak 8mm film.

"Burns_01" explores the film artifact where light exposure between shots creates a smeary glow and halation effects. Once seen as flaws, filmmakers now use them creatively as transitions, infusing edits with nostalgia and authenticity. These visuals celebrate how embracing imperfections enriches storytelling in filmmaking.
We grew tired of using the same 5 films burns in every project, so we decided to build out a much more vast and cohesive library of burns. The uniform looks means your edit will stay cohesive without having to re-use assets over and over.
Every asset we make is a drag and drop element. All you have to do is change the "blend mode", so that you can focus on getting your edit done.

Film Scans

Resolution and sizing.

To make sure that our assets meet streaming standards and retain their quality, we scan our files at the highest possible resolution, 6200x4848px. This means that if you don't want the perforation of the 8mm overscan to be visible, you can easily resize the file and still stay in 4K UHD.

Sound Design.

Our film burns come with professionally designed sound effects (SFX) to enhance the editing experience. Crafted with precision to complement visuals and immerse audiences fully. With us, filmmakers get a complete package for captivating storytelling.
